Dwight Yorke is reportedly in a battle to avoid being declared bankrupt.

The former Sunderland player , 46, is facing financial problems just two weeks after his ex-partner Katie Price’s money troubles were revealed.

The retired footballer will be the subject of an insolvency hearing in London on Monday, according to The Sun.

Yorke’s hearing is due to take place at the Rolls Building court complex, which handles voluntary bankruptcy applications and creditors’ demands.

Price has been given until October to pay back thousands of pounds of debt to her creditor - and if she fails to do so, she could risk being made bankrupt by the High Court.

“Katie and Dwight may be more similar than they think they are, what with them both blowing their fortunes,” a source told The Sun.

“Dwight’s been desperately trying to get his finances back on track over the past year as his company’s assets dwindled to just £2.

“He even sold the Cheshire mansion he used to share with Katie. He got £2.25m last year but that clearly hasn’t helped.

“When you think of how successful Dwight was as a player, it is really quite difficult to believe it has come to this.”

Yorke has faced money trouble before - last year a petition against him was dropped after the amount he owed fell below £5,000.

Yorke and Price met in 2000 and were together for 18 months. She gave birth to their son Harvey Price, 16, in 2002.

Back in 2016, Price hit out at her ex for being “unable or unwilling” to accept the boy’s disability.

Harvey suffers from Prader-Willi syndrome which causes him to experience a chronic feeling of hunger.

As a result, he is prone to obesity and has been overweight from a young age.

Yorke’s representative has been contacted by our sister paper Mirror Online for comment.
