Flood threat looms large over Khagaria
KHAGARIA: Several villages in Khagaria district are facing imminent flood threat with all major rivers, such as the Ganga, the Kosi and the Bagmati flowing above danger marks. Floodwaters have started entering low-lying areas in the riverine belts, damaging standing crops over hundreds of acres of land.
Villages like Emadpur, Bindtoli, Katghara, Bhuriya, Latmmbari and Ethari in Gogri block are already reeling under floodwaters.

“We are watchful as the rivers are showing a rising trend,” Gogri SDO Subhash Chandra Mandal said.
According to official sources, five panchayats of Chautham block in the district have been completely affected and three panchayats partially.
Floodwaters of the Kosi and the Bagmati have started entering riverine villages under Alouli and Beldaur blocks of the district.
“We face flood fury almost every year,” lamented residents of Buchha, Saraswa, Thutthi Mohanpur, Lagma, Lalpur, Bangliya and Rohiyar villages under Chautham block of the district.
Khagaria SDM Manish Kumar Meena, disaster management officer Priyanka Kumar and CO Rajiv Ranjan visited the flood-affected areas of Alouli block on Friday to take stock of the situation.
