BENGALURU: Amidst heavy rainfall and landslides, the highway roads connecting districts in coastal Karnataka including Mangaluru and Udupi – Shiradi Ghat and Sampaje Ghat have remain closed. Connection between Bengaluru and coastal districts have also been affected due to this.
While Charmadi Ghat remains open for light vehicular traffic, the route has been prone to numerous landslides, traffic pile-up and trapping the travelling public for hours.

Here are the details of the routes to reach Mangaluru or Udupi districts from Bengaluru:
1. Hassan -> Chickmagalur -> Ballehonnur -> Sringeri -> Agumbe -> Hebri -> Perdur -> Manipal -> Udupi -> Mangaluru
2. Hassan -> Chickmagalur -> Moodigere -> Kottigehara -> Charmadi -> Ujire -> Belthangadi -> Mangaluru
3. Hassan -> Chickmagalur -> Moodigere -> Kottigehara -> Kalasa -> Kudremukh -> Karkala
4. Bangalore -> Shimoga -> Thirthahalli -> Masthikatte -> Hulikal Ghat -> Siddapura -> Kundapura -> Udupi -> Mangaluru
Heavy vehicles should be avoided as the roads are at a risk of caving in due to landslips. They have been banned through Charmady Ghat but KSRTC's normal buses are allowed, which helps in connecting to Mangaluru and Dharmastala. Luxury buses will travel through SK Border (Kudremukh-Karkala) route.
