Former PM Vajpayee’s ashes to be immersed in rivers of 16 mandala in UP

AGRA: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes will be immersed in various rivers under 16 mandals across Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
According to a senior leader of the state BJP, ashes will be immersed in the Rapti river (Gorakhpur and Devipatan), Ganga (Varanasi, Kanpur, Meerut and Vindhyachal), Mandakini (Chitrakoot), Sangam (Allahabad), Sarayu (Faizabad), Betwa (Jhansi), Ramganga (Moradabad and Bareilly), Soron (Aligarh), Yamuna (Saharanpur), Tamsa (Azamgarh), and Kuana (Basti).

BJ state Spokesperson Chandra Mohan said, the urn containing the ashes will be taken by 16 state ministers from Lucknow on Friday and will be immersed by the state CM, deputy CM along with state and central ministers across UP on Saturday.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath will immerse the ashes of former PM, Vajpayee in Rapti river in Gorakhpur. Immersion of the ashes of Vajpayee in the river Sangam (Allahabad) and Sarayu(Faizabad) will be done by the deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma respectively.
The 93-year-old BJP patriarch died at the AIIMS hospital in Delhi on August 16 after a prolonged illness. He was cremated in Delhi on Friday.
Chief minister, Yogi Adityanath said that UP was Vajpayee’s ‘Karambhoomi’ (the land of action) and its people should get an opportunity to be part of his final journey.
Vajpayee represented the state’s national capital in the Lok Sabha for five consecutive terms. He was elected from the Lucknow constituency in 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2004.
