BHOPAL: AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit many temples in the state while campaigning for the assembly elections. However, Congress' previous plan of launching Rahul Gandhi's campaign from Omkareshwar could get changed. Sources in the state Congress said that the party president may launch canvassing for candidates after offering pooja at the Pitambara Peeth in Dalia.

Sources said that Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia have paid many visits to the temples of Lord Shiva. This time, the AICC president could launch the campaign after taking the blessings of goddess Pitambara known to be the deity of power. Rahul Gandhi is most likely to start campaigning in the state between September 15 and 20, the final date is yet to be fixed.
State Congress president Kamal Nath was in New Delhi on Friday giving final shape to AICC president Rahul Gandhi's campaign tour itinerary. Sources said that the focus areas would be the 35 SC and 47 ST reserved seats where Rahul Gandhi wants to campaign. Some OBC dominated seats would also be in the tour programme.
State Congress leaders said that he would also address major public meetings in the division headquarters including Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Indore, Bhopal and Sagar. While in the state, Rahul Gandhi will also visit the Mahakaal temple in Ujjain, the Sharda Mata temple in Maihar and the Ram Raja temple in Orchha. He could also visit Omkareshwar even if he starts from Pitambara Peeth.
