Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd, which has taken up the work on the construction of a new dairy at Uppoor in Udupi district, is expecting it to be opened by the end of 2018-19.
Speaking at the annual general meeting of the members of the union in Mangaluru on Saturday, Raviraj Hegde, president of the Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd, said that the works related to the new dairy are expected to be completed by the end of 2018. He hoped that the dairy will be ready for use by the end of 2018-19. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has given a loan of ₹5 crore for the construction of this dairy, he said.
At present, the union has dairy facilities at Mangaluru and Manipal.
Hegde said that the Milk Producers’ Union plans to launch flavoured milk in 200-ml pack and jeera buttermilk in the coming days. It will also open three camp offices in different parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in the coming days.
