NEW DELHI: Keen to ensure decongestion of Delhi as proposed under the 2021 masterplan, Delhi high court has set up a monitoring committee to oversee shifting of chemical units out of Walled City to IFC Narela.
A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V K Rao also recently refused to postpone the deadline of September 30 this year, fixed by the court for the relocation of traders to the Integrated Freight Complex.

Declining the plea of a section of traders challenging the deadline on the ground that IFC is not ready yet, HC noted that “the orders already passed with regard to shifting of the chemical trade business and fixing the time limit for the same as September 30 shall be adhered to and complied with.”
It further ordered DDA to file a report on compliance order by November 15 “indicating the status with regard to shifting of the manufacturing, storage and import of standard chemical equipment to Narela, and in case any establishment does not shift, action be taken against them in accordance with law for closing of their establishment.”
Meanwhile, the bench fast-tracked infrastructure development at Narela IFC noting that several agencies, including the Delhi Fire Services, various police stations functioning in the area, water supply and sewage departments of Delhi Jal Board, ISBT of transport department, northern railway, DUSIB, North Delhi Municipal Corporation and DDA have to pitch in immediately.
Asking the chief secretary to set up a panel with representatives of these agencies, HC noted that “there is no coordination or joint effort by these authorities because of which the implementation of various provisions of the master plan is being frustrated.”
HC’s directions came on a plea by an NGO, Society for Awareness and Development, seeking shifting of the wholesale markets and industrial units to Integrated Freight Complex.
