Thane:

Six people have been arrested by the Thane railway police in Maharashtra for allegedly robbing passengers of the Kushinagar Express earlier this month, an official said on Wednesday.

The accused got into the Gorakhpur-bound train when it reached the Kalyan station in Thane on August 19.

They allegedly robbed some passengers of their cash and mobile phones at knife-point and jumped out of the train near Kasara, Kalyan railway police's senior inspector Dinakar Pingle said.

Based on the passengers' complaints, an offence under IPC section 395 dacoity was registered by the police.

During the probe, the police arrested the accused from Igatpuri in the neighbouring Nashik district last week.

The police recovered Rs 13,450 cash, three mobile phones and four sickles from them, Mr Pingle said.

The CCTV footage at the Kasara railway station helped the police in nabbing the accused, he added.
