UP: Heavy rains kill 10 in Hardoi
LUCKNOW: A number of houses collapsed due to incessant rains claiming ten lives in two different parts of Hardoi district on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Thursday, four persons of the same family died after the roof of a house collapsed in Charam Tara Majra village.
The deceased were identified as Chhote (68), his son Ramkhilawan (45), his wife Rajrani (42) and his daughter Rani (12). The members of the family were inconsolable and had taken to the streets to demand compensation from the administration.
Meanwhile, in another incident, on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, six houses collapsed in six villages of Sandila Tehshil- Manish (18) died in Narayanpur village, Ishak (82) died in Sahgawa village, Rajaram (47) Garindkheda village, Chedna (72) Bilara Majra, Nitin Kumar (12) Mauchena, Parameshwar (50) of Goswan village.
The incident caused sleepless nights and fear in the people of the villages.
DM Hardoi Pulkit Khare said that efforts are on to mitigate people whose houses are prone, while compensation to the family members of the deceased would be provided soon.
