PATNA: Bihar police on Saturday safely rescued a cement trader from Muzaffarpur, who was kidnapped from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh almost two months back and police of Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Uttar Pradesh (UP) was continuously searching for him.
The only tip-off for the state police received from their counterparts in MP was that a hefty amount of ransom would be thrown somewhere in jungles between Kaimur and Rohtas from a moving train by family members of the kidnapped trader Sant Bahadur alias Lala (35).

DGP KS Dwivedi was personally monitoring the case for perfect execution as police of different districts of state as well as from neighbouring states were also involved for rescuing the trader.
Dwivedi said MP police shared input about kidnapping on wee hours of Saturday.
“The trader was later safely rescued from Manohar Bigha village under Baruraz police station area in Muzaffarpur district,” he said.
He said two kidnappers – Balendu Singh alias Rajesh Singh and Narayan Lohar - along with a bike and Rs 40 lakh ransom money were arrested from Shivsagar police station area in Rohtas and on basis of information extracted from them after interrogation, the trader was rescued from Muzaffarpur.
The DGP said three more kidnappers were arrested from Manohar Bigha and police uniforms and firearms were also seized from Khalid Miyan alias Ansari’s residence, where the trader was kept captive. Dwivedi said Khalid is presently lodged behind bars.

“Narayan also carries a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head declared by Madhya Pradesh police as he had fled from police custody,” Dwivedi said.
“An inter-state kidnapping gang was behind the trader’s kidnapping and Rs 3 crore as ransom was demanded for his safe release,” DGP Dwivedi said adding police were continuously searching for him in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
“Based on MP police information, Bihar police raised ‘nakas’ in bordering areas of Rohtas and neighbouring districts, ultimately leading to arrest of Balendu and Narayan,” Dwivedi said adding the ransom money in a bag was thrown after Kudra railway station in Kaimur.
“Not only the plan to get ransom by the kidnappers was extraordinary, but even during kidnaping, they were in police uniform and had kidnapped the trader by intercepting his SUV in Rewa,” Dwivedi said adding entire rescue operation ended by 10am.
