Bomb hoax in army farm leads to panic in Sitapur

LUCKNOW : Panic ensued after a bomb-like object was found lying abandoned in a military farm, under the limits of Kotwali, in Sitapur on Saturday.
However, a long search by the bomb disposal squad members revealed that it was a hoax.
The squad members said that the bomb-like object was made out of a plastic box with wires jutting out of it and was placed on a gunny bag.
As per reports, on Saturday, a villager had informed the police about presence of a suspicious object at the farm.
As the local police were ill equipped in diffusing a bomb, they contacted police headquarters in Lucknow and called for a bomb disposal squad. Meanhwile, Sitapur police had cordoned off the area as a security measure. Commander of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) Ajeet Kumar said, "The box had no explosives but it was made to appear like a bomb to trigger panic."
SP (Sitapur) Prabhakar Chaudhary said that he police were scanning CCTV footage in the area for more clues.
