UP: Recovery of bomb-like object triggers panic in Sitapur

LUCKNOW: The recovery of a bomb-like object pressed the panic button in UP's Sitapur on Saturday. The object was found lying abandoned in one of the corners of sprawling military farm in city Kotwali area. The bomb disposal squad (BDS) was trying to ascertain the object.
It was first spotted by a villager around the wee hours of Saturday. Later, the news reached the police.
However, the complacent police reached the scene late, villagers told newsmen.
As they were ill-equipped in handling the situation, the message was passed on to senior police official of the district who contacted police headquarters in Lucknow seeking a bomb disposal squad.
Sitapur SP Prabhakar Chaudhary said that BDS would only ascertain the object. "They are still working upon it," he said.
