Ganga wreaks havoc in Bhagalpur
PATNA: The Ganga floodwaters have entered parts of Bhagalpur, Sultanganj and Kahalgaon towns due to heavy rainfall in Nepal. The floodwaters have also inundated several villages in southern Katihar.
Reports from Bhagalpur said the Ganga floodwaters have entered the campus of the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU), causing waterlogging there for the last four days.
Floodwaters have also entered the lower areas of Sultanganj and Kahalgaon towns.
Yogendra, a senior TMBU teacher, said even a slight increase in water level would send the backwaters from the Ganga to the T N B College campus. The water levels of the Ganga at Bhagalpur and Kahalgaon were 6cm and 48cm above the danger marks, respectively, on Thursday. A Central Water Commission (CWC) communiqué said there would be increase in the water level on Friday.
