Amrutha and P Pranay in happier times
HYDERABAD: Defiant in mourning, a pregnant Amrutha said, “My father has links with the underworld. But if the contract killers are from Bihar, I believe Veeresham may have connected my dad to them.”
Veeresham refuted the allegations. He said, “I don’t know the girl, her husband Pranay or her father. I did not speak to Maruthi Rao. My call details can be scrutinised.
Also, Mriyalaguda is not my constituency. I neither know English or Hindi to be able to speak to a gang from Bihar. My political rivals are trying to instigate people to level false accusations as I am contesting elections. I am a Dalit from a Left background. I too married outside my caste. My wife and I have been supporting such weddings. I also came to know her father, Maruthi Rao, is involved in land settlements.” Veeresham also said, “I have been given a clean chit in the murder of a politician.”

Interestingly, pictures of Maruthi Rao and his brother putting up hoardings of TRS minister Jagadeesh Reddy were circulated on social media.
Speaking to TOI, Nalgonda superintendent of police A V Ranganath said, “Our probe revealed there’s no involvement of Veeresham in the murder of Pranay. We were told he called Pranay’s father and told him they should make both sides agree to the marriage. The complaint with Kethepalli police was false and we didn’t register the FIR. Pranay’s father was called and quizzed, but we didn’t pursue the complaint.”
