Nalgonda honour killing: Supari slur on TRS leader
Amrutha has alleged the ex-MLA helped her dad to hire contract killers.
HYDERABAD: The horrific honour killing in Nalgonda assumed political overtones on Sunday with a former TRS legislator being accused of playing a key role in offering a supari to eliminate a Dalit youth, who married an upper-caste girl. Perumalla Pranay was hacked to death by contract killers.
Amrutha Varshini, wife of Perumalla Pranay, alleged Nakirekal MLA Vemula Veeresham helped her father, T Maruthi Rao, hire contract killers.

Paranay was murdered on September 14 in Nalgonda district of Telangana, while he was coming out of hospital with his pregnant wife, Amrutha. The murder was captured on CCTV camera.
Amrutha said, “Former TRS MLA Veeresham called me and my husband and delivered a stern warning on behalf of my father. Earlier, we read in newspapers the MLA’s name had cropped up in the murder of a local politician, Boddupalli Srinu. We were summoned but were too afraid to visit him. Veeresham ensured a false complaint was lodged against my father-in-law with Kethepalli police. Though he works in LIC, they accused him of cheating in the guise of being an insurance agent. There’s no name in the complaint. The case was cooked up. As they were repeatedly harassing my father-in-law by calling him to the police station, we complained to Inspector General of Police Stephen Ravindra. Then I received a warning that my husband would be booked for drugs and women.”
