A 42-year-old woman, who met with an accident in East Bengaluru on September 15, has now become a savior for a 39-year-old farmer from Dharmapuri district, Tamil Nadu.

BENGALURU: A 42-year-old woman, who met with an accident in East Bengaluru on September 15, has now become a saviour for a 39-year-old farmer from Dharmapuri district, Tamil Nadu.
The donor was declared brain dead on September 16 in Manipal hospital at 1am. A team of harvesting doctors from Fortis Hospital were sent to the hospital for assessment of the organ. Post-preliminary assessment, the organ was harvested at 4.45am and the heart taken in an ambulance reached Fortis Hospital on Bannerghatta road from Manipal Hospitals on old airport road within ten minutes around 4.45am in the morning.
A 12-km distance was covered in eight minutes without creating a green corridor as the traffic was less early in the morning.
The recipient patient earlier suffered from cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscles. He was taking treatment in Bengaluru at the time the heart alert was raised.
One of the kidneys of the accident victim woman was sent for a patient at Global Gleneagles BGS hospital. Änother kidney and liver were used for two different patients at Manipal hospitals.
