Three Florida men crossed off an item from a dead friend’s bucket list by spear fishing an alligator, according to a report by the Tallahassee Democrat.

Staff Sgt. Carl Enis, 31, a U.S. Air Force pararescueman, died in a helicopter crash in Iraq earlier this year, the report said.

Enis used to go on tuna-spearing expeditions and other hunting trips in his spare time, but spear fishing an alligator was an unchecked item on his bucket list, the Democrat reported.

Enis’ close friends and brother-in-law went fishing last Saturday in Wacissa River, just east of Tallahassee, the report showed. Chasen Poole was the friend that managed to spear an 8-foot-7-inch alligator, according to the report.

“If he saw this, he would have been so happy,” Poole told the Democrat.

Enis’ friends reportedly plan to mount the gator’s skull as part of an in-memory-of display.
