  1. Beautiful building but it looks naked
W/o the soot that gave it its characteristic
    look
Do you have any info on the building thatwas attached to it which was before the previous Hillel house. Why was it torn down and replaced with the industrial design building
The old building looked like it had a lot of character
    Thanks to those that contributed

    1. I agree that the renovated Castle looks too “new” now that all the ivy and 100 years of soot and road grime have been removed. I had no idea that the building was sandstone colored and not gray until the scaffolding came down!

The old building to the left, the old Hillel House, wasn’t torn down. That ugly building was gutted and turned into the Alan and Sherry Leventhal Center (Admissions Reception Center) mentioned in the article, a few years back. I think they did a decent job turning a very out-of-place building into something that, while still out-of-place next to the castle, is a modern and inviting visitor’s center.

      1. I know the original Hillel was attached and I read somewhere it was industrial design however, in one of the older pictures there is an older building attached before the old building
I went to open house sat and the inside looks pretty much the same and very nice but all new AC heating and electric. There are multiple open decks as well Thanks to the donors
