A house fire in Christies Beach is being treated as suspicious

A FIRE at an abandoned home in Adelaide’s south overnight is being treated as suspicious.

Just before 6pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to the property on Castle Rd at Christies Beach. Crews found the fire had spread from one of the rooms into the roof space.

It took 12 firefighters around 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

The damage bill is estimated at $60,000.

In a separate incident police are investigating a suspicious car fire at Cheltenham.

Just before 12.15 am on Monday emergency services were called to Second Avenue after residents reported a car was on fire in a driveway.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire but a BMW was substantially damaged and a carport sustained minor smoke damage.

The car will be forensically examined today but police believe the fire was deliberately lit.
