PORTLAND, Ore. — Roughly 4,000 people gathered in downtown Portland Sunday morning.
Their goal was to defeat ALS.
KATU's Valerie Hurst emceed the ALS Association's Walk to Defeat ALS.
The event raised money for ALS treatment and support.
Jim Criswell was diagnosed with ALS last year and this year his team set a fundraising record.
He helped raise more than $77,000, but it's not just the money that brings him out.
"Got a huge team of support here, which has raised a record amount for the ALS walk here in Portland. And I've realized how much love and support I have," Criswell said.
In total, the event raised more than $350,000.
