PATNA: The state government has transferred Muzaffarpur SSP Harpreet Kaur within five months of her posting in the district.
Her transfer to Samastipur as the SP is being attributed to the killing of former Muzaffarpur mayor Samir Kumar six days ago. Criminals used an AK-47 rifle to kill Samir and his driver near Banaras Bank Chowk in Muzaffapur town on September 23.
Kaur was transferred from Kaimur to Muzaffarpur on April 27 this year after the then Muzaffarpur SSP Vivek Kumar was suspended following special vigilance unit’s raids on his premises in connection with a disproportionate assets case against him.

Kaur was among the seven IPS officers transferred on Saturday. Two IAS, one IES and one Indian Post and Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IP and TAFS) officers besides 22 DSPs were also transferred.
Manoj Kumar, posted as Darbhanga SSP, will now be the new SSP of Muzaffarpur. Garima Malik, BMP-10 commandant in Patna, will be the new SSP of Darbhanga. Samastipur SP Deepak Ranjan has been brought to the BMP in Patna in place of Malik.
Begusarai SP Aditya Kumar has been made the Bhojpur SP in place of Awakash Kumar who has been shifted to Begusarai in the same capacity. Ara observed a bandh earlier this week in protest against crime rise in Bhojpur district.

Manish Kumar Sinha is the new Fatuha SDPO whereas Rakesh Kumar is the new DSP (law and order) of Patna. Kumar Indra Prakash has been made the DSP (traffic) in Patna.
Additional secretary (education) Manoj Kumar has been shifted to the health department in the same capacity. He will also hold the additional charge of Bihar Swasthya Suraksha Samiti CEO.
Surendra Jha has been made the secretary of Board of Revenue. He was earlier a deputy director in the finance department’s provident fund directorate. Jha and Kumar are IAS officers.
