PATNA: The Siwan police seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with face value of Rs 4.55 lakh from Balthar village under the Basantpur police staton area in the district on Tuesday.
Police also arrested four people who were running the fake currency racket for the last one year. A state-of-the-art note printing machine along with a scanner was also seized.

The gang was printing high-quality FICN of various denominations, including Rs 2,000, on quality papers, Siwan SP Navin Chandra Jha told TOI over the phone.
“Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the wee hours on Tuesday and arrested Mantosh Kumar and Dinesh Kumar. Mantosh’s interrogation led to the arrest of Ashu alias Mallik Sahni from Bhagwapur in Siwan and Rajesh Kumar from Kopa in Saran,” the SP said and added two members of the same gang were arrested with Rs 6.5 lakh FICN from South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal six days back. “We will contact our counterparts in West Bengal in course of our further investigations into the case,” Jha said.
