Pitch invasions are nothing new in sports and especially in India, where cricketers are treated as stars and some worshipped.

And, on Thursday, there was another such instance. As India dominated proceedings against West Indies on the first day of the first Test match, two young men rushed to the pitch to meet Team India captain Virat Kohli.

The two men ran on to the ground and tried to click selfies with Kohli, who looked was standing on the middle of the pitch. Kohli posed for the photos for a second before the umpires intervened and asked them to go away as play had to be resumed. They were escorted off the ground by two security officials.

Kohli was unfazed by the abrupt stop of play and carried on after the incident as India piled on the misery on the West Indian bowlers.

The Indian captain scored his 19th Test fifty and guided India to a score of 364/4 at the end of day's play, with him being unbeaten on 72 along with Rishabh Pant, who was batting on 17 off 21 balls.

However, Kohli might be the one, who is the most popular in the Indian side right now but the day belonged to an 18-year-old teenager from Mumbai, who was making his first senior appearance for India.

Prithvi Shaw stole the show and scored a classy hundred on his debut to become the 15th Indian to achieve the feat. Shaw's fearless innings caught the eyes of not only the people present at the ground but also former cricketers and pundits around the world.

Shaw started off brilliantly and continued the momentum throughout the innings and scored his maiden ton off 99 balls. Shaw's intent and style captured everyone's attention and a big innings was being expected from him.

But, a Devendra Bishoo ball stopped on him and he failed to adjust on time and handed it straight back to the bowler to fall for a 154-ball 134 at a strike-rate of 87.01.

On Day 2, India will look to build on the great foundation laid by Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara, who also scored 86 and forged a 206-run stand with the Mumbaikar to take India to a position of dominance.

Much will depend on Kohli and Pant, who will need to stay at the crease, settle in and get quick runs when needed as India would look to bat West Indies out of the game.
