Drug cartel boss caught in Malda

NEW DELHI: The kingpin of the drugs module who had been supplying heroin from Myanmar was caught by the Special Cell from Malda in West Bengal. The man, Najeul Haque, had been using the Manipur border to smuggle in the drugs to distribute them in the country.
DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav said that Haque (69) has been taken on a four-day transit remand from Malda and is being brought back to Delhi for questioning.
He is a resident of the Kaliachak, a village near the border areas of India and Bangladesh. Two of his associates, Mohammad Shahid and Irfan Hussain, were caught with 20kg of drugs was concealed in a box attached to the axle of a truck. The entire process used to end in five minutes after which they both drove back to Delhi via UP.
Police said that he was in touch with a Myanmar-based cartel that smuggled the consignment to Manipur for him and got it delivered to his residence in Malda. Cops were tipped off about Haque while questioning Hussain and Shahid, who were also taken to Malda to identify and arrest Haque. He will now be questioned further.
