A 42-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by a caretaker of a house in east Delhi’s Vivek Vihar on Saturday morning.

The body was partially disrobed and the prime suspect is absconding, the police said.

Pushpa, from Ghaziabad, was killed inside a house in Vivek Vihar’s D-block, they said, adding that her body was dumped in the lane at the back side of the house.

“We are waiting for the victim’s autopsy report to ascertain the exact cause of her death and if she was sexually assaulted before the murder. It seems that she was smothered,” said a senior police officer.

The locals made a police control room (PCR) call after they saw a woman lying on the road with blood coming out of her nose.

No visible injury

A team reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy after completing legal formalities.

No visible injury marks were found on her body, they added.

During initial investigation, the police obtained CCTV footage of the surroundings where the body was found.

In one of the footages, a caretaker was seen dragging the body out of his employer’s house and dumping it in the backside lane during the small hours on Saturday, the police said. “Sushil [40], from Bijnor, was a caretaker of the house for the past 14 years. The owner lives in Canada. Sushil was seen fleeing from the house on a motorcycle with another man,” the police said.

“Police teams have been formed and the accused will be held soon. A case of murder was registered at the Vivek Vihar police station,”said a police officer.

The locals alleged they have complained of suspicious persons often visiting the house to the resident welfare association and local police but they never checked or verified the complaint.

“The house was often visited by men and women. After drinking alcohol, they used to create commotion in the neighbourhood. The caretaker was running immoral activities from his employer’s house. But no action was ever taken against him,” a neighbour said.

They also alleged that the victim was seen visiting the house for the past two days, the police added.
