Group of 36 men from Bihar booked for ‘obscenity’ at Mathura hotel

AGRA: Mathura police has booked a group of three dozen people from Bihar for allegedly indulging in obscene acts at Hotel Kridha Residency early on Sunday morning.
According to police, those who have been booked are distributors of an Indore based private company, Deva Cropscience Pvt Ltd. They were present in the hotel to attend a company meeting.
The police said that they had received a tip-off that men and women were allegedly drinking and dancing to loud music at the hotel.
They immediately, dispatched a squad which included women police officers. When they reached the hotel, they found several people including women allegedly drunk and involved in ‘obscene and vulgar’ acts.
Talking to TOI, circle officer Sadar, Preeti Singh said that the detainees were then booked under section 294 (Obscene acts and songs) of the IPC on the basis of complaint filed by the hotel manager, Rajiv Sandaliya. However, all those arrested were released by the police on bail within a few hours of their arrest while women were released after warning.
According to the complaint, the Indore based company officials had booked the hotel for a meeting but after a dinner around 12am, they had called a few dancers and liquor was consumed, which is against the rules of the hotel. They misbehaved with the hotel staff when they tried to stop them, said the complainant, Rajiv.
Police will also send a report to the district magistrate against the hotel management, which did not have permission to serve alcohol.
Confirming this, Mathura SSP Babloo Kumar said that there are restrictions on the sale and consumption of liquor in Vrindavan as it is a sacred pilgrimage site. Police is inquiring into the matter. The detailed report will be sent to the district magistrate for further action against the hotel management.
