Patna: The Union ministry of health and family welfare on Sunday sounded an alert to Bihar after a 22-year-old youth from Siwan tested positive for
Zika virus. The youth studies at Jaipur in Rajasthan.
An official of state health department said the central surveillance unit of Union ministry of health and family welfare informed the state government on Sunday that one Pankaj Chourasia was recently tested positive for Zika virus at Jaipur and had visited Siwan between August 28 and September 12.
The official also said a team was rushed to Siwan on Sunday for surveillance of Pankaj’s family members, but none of them showed any symptoms of Zika. Nonetheless, the state health department has alerted all its 38 districts to keep a close watch on anyone with symptoms of Zika.
