Police team conducts search operation at Bareilly Junction
BAREILLY: After officials at Haridwar railway station received a letter threatening to blow up 20 railway stations, including Bareilly, a police team led by superintendent of police (city) Abhinandan Singh conducted random checking at Bareilly Junction on Tuesday morning.
Singh said teams of GRP and RPF would monitor all activities at the station round the clock to ensure no untoward incident takes place.

Speaking to TOI, SP said, “After getting information about the threat letter, we have been conducting regular checking at the railway station. On Tuesday morning, I put my officers on high alert and ordered them to conduct regular inspections along with Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Dog and Bomb Disposal Squad (B&DS) and local intelligence unit (LIU) teams.”
RPF station house officer (SHO) Anoop Sharma told TOI, “Apart from conducting regular inspections, we are also keeping a close eye on all activities taking place at the station through 48 CCTV cameras installed there. If we find any suspicious movement or object, we will act swiftly.”
Divulging details of the search operation, Sharma said it was conducted at the railway station and its surrounding areas. “RPF personnel and policemen checked routine trains such as Una-Himachal express, Bareilly-Aligarh passenger, a double-decker train and many other trains and passengers’ belongings.”
According to SP, anti-social aliments become active during festive season and issue such threats to spread panic among people. “But, we are ready to fight with them. We are checking all entries made in record books of hotels and restaurants located near railway station and bus stand, and if we find a suspected person, we will take strict action against him,” he added.
