“Having a Prime Minister of our choice is important to protect the interests of Andhra Pradesh and the Telugu Desam Party will be in a position to play a key role if people send all our candidates to the Lok Sabha in the coming elections,” said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Wednesday.

Addressing a public meeting, Mr. Naidu alleged that the BJP has betrayed the people of A.P.

Interlinking of rivers

Interlinking of rivers would be the key agenda of the party in the coming years to ensure supply of water to every corner of the State.

All assistance would be extended to Anantapur to help it emerge as a horticulture hub, he said, adding very soon 5 lakh acres would be covered under sprinkler and drip irrigation, making it the largest district in the country to harness the power of micro irrigation.

Mr. Naidu accused caretaker CM of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of working against the interests of Andhra Pradesh.

Kalyandurg MLA Hanumantharaya Chowdary sought a junior college for women and a hostel for girls in the town and housing for 1,500 poor persons, which the CM sanctioned immediately.

Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao , Kalava Srinivaslu and district Collector G. Veerapandian were present.
