Prince Andrew has revealed his mum the Queen was the unlikely individual who chose Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's lavish wedding venue at St George's Chapel.

The Duke of York previously came under fire for not hosting the wedding on his sprawling estate - Windsor Great Park - which could have saved £2m in taypayers' money.

Eugenie, 28, who is ninth in line to the throne and carries out no royal duties, got married to Jack, 32, today.

And in a TV interview hours before the couple tied the knot, 58-year-old Andrew revealed how the Queen "very firmly said" it should be held at Windsor Castle - where Harry and Meghan said 'I do' in May.

The Duke also admitted he was not involved in location choice or the finer details of the big day.

Speaking of the venue, he told ITV This Morning presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: "I'm not intimately involved in the planning... All the approval goes through the Queen anyway.

"It was what I was told as to where it was going to take place.

"The Queen very firmly said, 'No, St George's is where you are going to have the wedding.'

"So I said, 'Aye, aye ma'am, turn to the right, salute and carry on."'

And he added: "There are a few more people than most people have. There are a few more than Harry had.

"But that's just the nature of Eugenie and Jack. They have got so many friends that they need a church of that size to fit them all in."

Meanwhile, Eugenie and her father shared a touching moment together before she walked down the aisle of St George's Chapel in Windsor.

It was as the beaming princess stepped out of a 1977 Rolls Royce Phantom VI, belonging to her grandmother the Queen, and began climbing the steps her father came alongside her.

Eugenie pointed at the back of her exquisite dress and her father bent down and attentively made sure the train was lying flat as it billowed in the breeze.

The Duke of York also briefly gave Eugenie a hand and pulled the dress up at the front to stop her tripping.

She then proceeded to glide up the rest of the steps before going on to marry the love of her life.

The touching moment was caught on camera and the father and daughter were then seen waving to onlookers before linking arms and entering the church.
