PATNA: Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday called upon the engineering students to do new researches in the fields of education, health and agriculture to solve the problems in these areas under ‘Solve for India’ and ‘Solve for Bihar’ campaigns.
“India is ready for the fourth Green Revolution,” Modi said while addressing the students at an event, ‘Startup Master Plan’, organised at Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-P).
“The provision of Rs 500 crore corpus fund has been made in the startup policy of 2016. Under the provision, the interest subsidy of up to Rs 10 lakh will be provided to each startup for 10 years. Altogether 57 certified startups have received Rs 1.80 crore under the policy,” Modi said.
He added the state and central government is developing a two-storey incubation centre at IIT-P with an expenditure of Rs 15 crore to give space to startups associated with electronic system design, manufacturing and medical electronics.
IIT-P sports fest: More than 10 institutes of the city participated in a sports fest, ‘Infinito’, at the Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-P) on Saturday. On the second day of the three-day event, IIT-P Team A, National Institute of Technology-Patna Team A and Team B and Chanakya National Law University qualified for the semifinal rounds in table tennis competition. Suman of St Xavier’s College-Patna stood first in discus throw while the second and third trophies in this category were bagged by Natin Noroon of Birla Institute of Technology-Mesra Patna (BIT-P) and Raj of IIT-P, respectively. In 800m race, the first, second and third trophies were bagged by Ashish, Akshat and Rahul of IIT-P, respectively.
Host institute’s Kaushik and Rohit Kumar secured first and second places in 100m race and third position was secured by Prasanth of BIT-P.
Dandiya dance contest: Leeds Asian School emerged as the winner of an interschool dandiya dance competition hosted by Leeds International School on its premises on Saturday. The host school bagged second prize and Annie Besant International School got the third prize. The consolation prizes were given to Marion Cross School and S D V Public School. The performances were judged by dancers Yamini Sharma and Rajeev Ranjan.

Spell Bee Competition: Around 300 students from 13 different schools participated in a Spell Bee Competition organised by German Language Centre at Trinity Global School (TGS). The overall championship trophy went to Abhigyan Bhargav of TGS. Manas Raj of Litera Valley School bagged ‘Champion Deutsch Und Ich’ trophy. Srinivas Patel and Srutiparna Basak of Kendriya Vidyalaya-Bailey Road got Champion ‘Hallo Deutsch 1’ and ‘Hallo Deutsch 2’ trophies, respectively.
Patna Women’s College: The six-day hands-on training on ‘Basic scientific technique’ concluded at Patna Women’s College on Saturday. The event was attended by 19 students of science stream who were trained in three areas – water quality, material science and biological science. Equipment like centrifuge, autoclave, micro pipettes and laminar airflow were used during the training. Certificates were given to the trained students by college principal Sr M Rashmi AC.
