Raiders vs Seahawks LIVE: NFL in London 2018 - as it happened at Wembley

1/60

Oakland Raiders 3-27 Seattle Seahawks
NFL in London | Regular Season Week 6
Venue: Wembley Stadium

The Seattle Seahawks marked their first ever regular season game outside of North America with a comfortable win over the hapless Oakland Raiders at Wembley Stadium.

Russell Wilson threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns as the Seahawks ran out 27-3 winners in the first of three NFL International Series games to be played in the capital this season.

The organisers did their best to make it clear that this was a Raiders ‘home’ game, with cheerleaders and fireworks greeting their arrival on the field, but the London crowd were having none of it.

The Seahawks have a more established UK fan base and though technically the away side, it was clear from the moment Russell Wilson led his men out to warm up, that only a Seattle win would appease the home crowd.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, struggling badly for form having thrown more interceptions than anyone else in the league through the first five games, was once again playing behind an offensive line with more holes than a golf course, and was sacked six times.

Janikowski meets some old friends

There are storylines everywhere you look out there, but seeing as the kickers are warming up, how about this one?

Seahawks kicker Sebastian Janikowski is playing against the Raiders for the first time since leaving this summer - after seventeen years with the franchise.

Janikowski was drafted by the Raiders in the first round of the 2000 draft, the only time a kicker has gone in round one since 1979.

Less than an hour and a half to go until kick off now, and we're expecting the pre-game festivities to get going in around 30 minutes.

The NFL have put on a load of different events and stalls around Wembley today, so the area has been buzzing for hours already.

Seahawks fans in the majority down Wembley Way, but plenty of fans from teams who aren't even playing today too.

The takeover of Wembley is official!

14 October 2018

Preparations are well underway at Wembley and we're a little over two hours away from kick-off. The crowds are flocking to the national stadium, though if you're thinking of leaving it late, organisers have advised to get there early in order to go through advanced security checks. Transport to the stadium is also busy, so our advise is to not leave it until the last minute.

So, Wembley gets to host the party today despite the fixture originally being scheduled to be played at Tottenham's new stadium.

The problem with that? The stadium hasn't been finished yet.

Construction delays have pushed the project back - much to Spurs' chagrin - but it is not a hammer blow to the north London club's plans for the future.

John Dillon assesses what Spurs' new stadium will mean for NFL in London going forward, and why the club are well placed to be sitting pretty in the coming years.

"A decade from now when the football club is reaping the financial benefits of its fabulous new home – and it will be fabulous – and when there may be a permanent NFL London franchise installed there, the wait will surely have been worth it."

It's wet in London today - very wet. Wembley looks in tip-top shape for today's game though, and there's no way a little rain will dampen the spirits of the inbound fans as another NFL International Series kicks off in the capital at 6pm BST.
