BHOPAL: Two former MLAs of tribal
Balaghat district are among the list of disqualified candidates published recently by the Election Commission on October 6, the day when assembly polls were announced in the state.
While Ramkishore Kawre is a former BJP MLA from Paraswada constituency of Balaghat district, the other is
Darbu Singh Uike, former MLA of Gondvana Gantantra Party (GGP) from the same constituency.
Interestingly it is the same list that sparked controversy after minister
Narottam Mishra's name initially figured among the disqualified candidates, but was later removed in the updated list. Mishra’s disqualification has already been cancelled by
Delhi High Court.
Among the two former MLAs, Ramkishore Kaware had won the assembly polls on BJP ticket in 2008 but in 2013 he lost by a narrow margin of only 2800 votes against
Madhu Bhagat of Congress.
“It was a minor mistake. Actually the final report that was to be submitted to EC after polls was supposed to have an affidavit that has to be signed by me, but my representative signed it. I approached the EC and apprised the commission about the issue. I have been assured that the name would be removed from the disqualification list in the next couple of days,” Kawre told TOI.
Meanwhile, Darbu Singh Uike who had won the assembly polls from Paraswada constituency in 2003 on the ticket of GGP, also attributed the same reason for his name being present in the disqualified list. “In an affidavit my representative signed in place of me. This time I have decided that I will not be contesting the assembly polls and have not approached EC regarding the issue so far. I will approach the commission soon,” Uike told TOI.
