Across the north west, there are more children in need of a loving adoptive home than there are adopters to offer this.

National Adoption Week aims to raise awareness of this issue, in order to find homes for those children who desperately need them.

The week is organised by First4Adoption - the national information service for people interested in adopting a child in England.

Over the course of the week, regional adoption agency Adoption Counts will aim to raise awareness of the need for more adopters in the region, as well as showcasing the services they provide before, during and after the adoption process.

The collaborative adoption agency, brings together the professional expertise and specialist skills of five local authorities across Manchester, Cheshire East, Salford, Stockport, and Trafford.

The scale of the organisation means that they are able to forge better matches between parents and children, to create relationships that last.

Adoption counts will host two information stands during the week, one in Manchester and one in Cheshire East - check out their social media sites for more information.

There will also be an information evening for people that are actively thinking about adoption in Middlewich, Cheshire East - call the agency on 0300 123 2676 for more information.

If you'd like to get involved, follow Adoption Counts on Facebook and Twitter and share your adoption stories with the hashtag #supportadoption.
