Just days after Princess Eugenie's wedding, royal fans have got something else to be excited about.

Kensington Palace has announced that Meghan Markle is pregnant , with her and Prince Harry's first child due in the Spring of 2019.

A statement made on Twitter said: "Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."

The exciting news comes just as Harry and Meghan are starting their first royal tour .

The Duchess of Sussex is believed to be around 12 weeks pregnant , which would suggest that the new royal baby is due in March, just a couple of months before Harry and Meghan's first wedding anniversary.

They tied the knot at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, which hosted Princess Eugenie's royal wedding on 12 October last week.

It is actually thought that Meghan and Harry told other members of the Royal Family - including the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William - about their pregnancy while at Eugenie's wedding.

In their official engagement interview last year, Harry and Meghan discussed their desire to have children, with Harry saying, "hopefully we will start a family in the near future."

Harry and Meghan's baby will be the cousin of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and the grandson of Prince Charles, the late Princess Diana, and Meghan's parents Doria Ragland and Thomas Markle.

He or she will be seventh in line to the throne, pushing ahead of Prince Andrew and his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
