BJP marks 10 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar ‘vulnerable’

BJP marks 10 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar ‘vulnerable’
PATNA: The BJP national brass has marked “vulnerable” at least 10 of its 22 sitting Lok Sabha seats, indicating that their sitting MPs could either be dropped or their constituencies swapped with other NDA partners, or even the constituencies of a few of them could be changed to ensure and strengthen the party’s winning stakes, party sources said.
This has filtered out from the BJP circles after the initial feedback to the party’s national general secretary and in charge of its Bihar affairs, Bhupender Yadav, who embarked on high paced three-day review of the respective parliamentary seats in three separate meetings till October 13.
In all, 17 parliamentary seats were covered.
Bhupender is slated to conduct assessment in all the 40 parliamentary constituencies in the state to find the actual position of the BJP and other NDA partners. He would review the status of 20 other seats during his two-day meeting with the Lok Sabha Sanchalan Samiti members on October 25 and 26.
It is a pointer that the party is in hurry to move on to the next stage of identifying the seats it might actually like to contest during the 2019 Lok Sabha election, leaving the rest for the NDA partners.
The ten “vulnerable” constituencies include Begusarai, Darbhanga, Gopalganj, Madhubani, Patna Saheb, Sasaram, Siwan and Ujiarpur. Of them, Yadav has already reviewed the positions in Buxar, Gopalganj, Patna Saheb, Sasaram and Siwan.
Incidentally, party’s sitting Madhubani MP Hukum Deo Narayan Yadav would not contest the next election. State BJP president Nityanand Rai, who represents Ujiarpur, has expressed desire to contest from Madhubani, sources said. Similar change is on the cards with respect to Buxar seat, sources said.

The October 25 meeting would be held at Lakhisarai on Bhagalpur, Jamui, Munger and Banka seats, while the second round would be held in the afternoon at Barauni for Samastipur, Ujiarpur, Khagaria and Begusarai. The evening meeting would be held at Muzaffarpur for Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi and Darbhanga constituencies.
On October 26, the first meeting at Supaul would cover Supaul, Madhepura and Jhanjharpur seats, followed by the one at Kishanganj for Purnia, Kishanganj, Katihar and Araria seats.
