Take MLAs being dropped into confidence: Shah
BHOPAL: BJP has decided to hold broad-based discussions involving all stake holders while finalising the names of candidates for Madhya Pradesh assembly elections to minimize any possible squabble. Ministers of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet and senior BJP leaders would be heading for different districts on Tuesday to talk to party workers and office bearers to finalise a panel of three names from each constituency.

This was decided during a meeting between senior state BJP leaders and national party president Amit Shah here late on Sunday.
Shah advised the party leaders to take the leaders, including MLAs who are denied tickets, into confidence before finalising the names.
The state ministers and BJP state office-bearers would go to various districts in the next two days and get a panel of three names from each constituency. The panel of names would be handed over to Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar by October 18.
Sources said the respective destinations of MPs, ministers and party office-bearers for this exercise has already been decided. “I can’t disclose the whole list of who is going where, but I can tell you that MP from Bhopal Alok Sanjar and minister Gopal Bhargav are going to Raisen,” said a BJP source on condition of anonymity.
He said a decision to seek opinion of maximum stakeholders was taken in the wake of large number of party leaders asking for tickets and possibility of rebellion and sabotage at several places by those who are not given tickets.

Speculations are rife that BJP might deny tickets to a large number of sitting MLAs to contain anti-incumbency sentiments against the state government, if any. These leaders are being perceived as a major threat to party’s electoral prospects.
“Incumbent MLAs are not among those whose opinion would be sought on selection of candidates for the state assembly election, giving a clear indication that opinion on their performance from prominent party leaders from the constituency is being sought before taking a final call on tickets”, said a BJP office-bearer.
