Four Corners Community Behavioral Health along with Utah State University Eastern are looking forward to presenting a free screening of Kevin Hines’ new movie Suicide: The Ripple Effect.  This event will be held on Thursday, October 18 at the Geary Theatre on the campus of Utah State University Eastern with doors opening at 6:00 pm and the movie will begin at 7:00 pm.

“This movie just really has everything that I could hope to provide to the community as far as suicide prevention and awareness in an hour-long movie so I encourage everybody in the community to come out to this movie,” said Carbon/Emery Suicide Prevention Coordinator, Cacilia Jensen. “It’s geared towards providing hope and healing; for individuals who are not only struggling but for family members who have lost someone to suicide and community members to learn how you can support and prevent suicide within our community.” The movie is appropriate for ages 10 years or older which would make an excellent way for parents to open the lines of communication on such an important subject.

The movie is about Kevin Hines who in the year 2000 attempted to take his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge and is one of only thirty-six (less than 1%) to survive the fall. He is the only Golden Gate Bridge jump survivor who is actively spreading the message of living mentally healthy around the globe. His story is a way to globally help stop the stigma to save lives being lost to suicide.

“The doors open at 6:00 pm and the movie will begin at 7:00 pm. We’ll have a whole bunch of community resources, we’ll have free gun locks there so please feel free to utilize our resources take them with you. There is no shame in it whatsoever, we just want people to be prepared,” stated Jensen. This is a great opportunity for community members to educate themselves on what local resources are available.
