Worth repeating—Washington IS officially the worst: The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy released a report that states what we’ve all known to be true for sometime, “Washington has the most unfair state and local tax system in the country.” The poorest residents in Washington pay 17.8 percent of their income in taxes, whereas the wealthiest pay 3 percent. If you aren’t already cringing, just wait to hear the states we are in league with—the next most regressive states are Texas, Florida, South Dakota, Nevada, and Tennessee. You heard it ladles and gentle-people—fair, green, and liberal Washington is more regressive than Texas or Florida.

President Trump held a rally in Montana: He was in Montana to give the patented Trump-bump to GOP Senate candidate Matt Rosendale. Trump, during his speech, insinuated without evidence that democrats are behind the caravan of around 3,000 Honduran migrants currently moving north toward Mexico’s border, suggesting that the Democrats are backing them because they “figure everybody coming in is going to vote Democrat.” His conspiratorial statements may go mostly overlooked for no other reason than that he also said this:

Scary times to be a reporter in the world—glad I’m not one.

Molotov cocktails do not belong at a place of worship, or anywhere: Multiple Molotov cocktails were thrown into a church in Rainier Valley last night during a service. They caused little damage and no one was injured thankfully. Seattle Police Arson and Bomb Squad detectives are now investigating.

Twitter banning pro-Saudi propaganda bots: NBC gave a list of accounts that all tweeted out the same pro-Saudi rhetoric on the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the same time, and Twitter actually banned the accounts. No word on who funded the creation of the bots, or who created the bots for that matter.

Elephants charge at assholes shooting their family: Trigger warning—the hunters do not actually get trampled on, so if you needed that kind of melodic closure just know it doesn’t come. You do see however, these despicable man-babies dressed like real fierce outdoor adventurers actually appear irritated that the elephants didn’t openly welcome them killing their family. Pathetic, pathetic humans.

We absolutely deserve a cute, autumn, pumpkin-involved animal video after that: Zoos make me kind of sad but this video makes me kind of happy. Look at the penguins! I'll take this over some bullshit pumpkin spice latte any day.

Why’s China get all the cool stuff? The city of Chengdu is on the cusp of making science fiction reality by 2020. The head of the Chengdu Aerospace Science and Technology Microelectronics System Research Institute unveiled a plan to launch a “fake moon” that would illuminate the city at night—a plan to effectively replace street lamps. The proposal would launch a satellite that would be eight times brighter than the actual moon. Chengdu officials think the moon could cut electricity costs and attract tourists. If all you want is to attract tourists and cut costs, everyone in Seattle knows (apparently) that all you have to do is just open a cashierless grocery store!

Alaskan Way Viaduct closed this weekend for final safety inspection: If you use the viaduct (I have the luxury of avoiding it like the plague), then you can read here when and where exactly the closures will be.

More bad breathing air? Yup. Yuck.

Washington state Supreme Court bars life-sentences without parole for some teens: The state Supreme Court passed a ruling 5-4 on Thursday that bars "the state from sentencing 16- and 17-year-old murder defendants to life in prison without the possibility of parole, saying the sentence violates the state Constitution's ban on cruel punishment."

Katie Herzog may be out of town but she's still providing us with relevant content: Also, I don't feel nearly as well-equipped to respond to this article. I'm sure our commenters do though!

This weekend's best Seattle entertainment options include: The semi-scandalous The Nightmare Before Christmas rendition, This Is Halloween, the German film festival Kinofest, and the return of Seattle Restaurant Week.
