PATNA: More than two dozen women were injured after they were attacked by unknown persons with razor blades amid crowd at Dussehra fair held at Thakur Badi under Town police station area in Jehanabad on Friday evening.
Jehanabad SP Maneesh (he goes by single name) while talking to TOI over phone on Saturday said 12 women and a minor girl were brought at sadar hospital for treatment after the attack.
He said at least three to four more women had also received injuries at the fair who perhaps left after treatment at private hospitals.
“Several of them received multiple stitches due to the depth of wound resulted perhaps by a sharp blade like object. None of the injured women were able to tell that when they were attacked amid the crowd at the fair,” the SP said.
He said that perhaps the attacker is of pervert nature as none reported about any valuable being snatched or looted.
Maneesh said an FIR was lodge with the women’s police station in connection with the incident on Friday night.
“Police were trying to zero in on the attackers with the help of CCTV footages of fair,” he said.
Similar attack had took place at the same fair at Jehanabad and at Gandhi Maidan during Ravan Vadh in Patna in 2016 also in which at least several women had received injuries from sharp blades.
