Woman among two beaten to death by kin in Nalanda
BIHARSHARIF: Two people, including a woman, were beaten to death by their relatives in separate incidents in Nalanda district.
One Sita Devi of Dihra under the Chandi police station area died on Sunday after her husband’s brother Munrika Yadav thrashed her with a stick after a spat with her hubby Mishri Yadav over a piece of land. Chandi SHO Mukesh Kumar said the two brothers had an old property dispute and they often fought over it.
He said an FIR was lodged in this connection and raids were on to arrested the accused.
In the second incident, one Chotu Kumar Sharma of Vidyasagar Road in Ranchi died during treatment in a private hospital at Patna on Saturday evening after being allegedly thrashed by his wife’s relative at Islampur on October 16.
Chotu’s brother Munna Kumar Sharma said the deceased was married to Seema Devi, the daughter of one Krishna Prasad of Islampur, six years ago. But she mostly stayed at her father’s place on the pretext of continuing her education. Chotu had gone to Islampur on October 16 to take his wife home, but his in-laws killed him.
An officer at Islampur police station said the mother-in-law of the deceased was arrested and search was on for his wife, brother-in-law and father-in-law Krishna Kumar, who were absconding.
Also, a youth identified as one Ranjit Kumar of Khudaganj was found murdered in a well. His neck was slit with some sharp-edge weapon on October 18. Police sources said love affairs might be the reason behind the crime and four persons were arrested in this connection.

A day before, one Sikandar Ravidas of Biharsharif’s Bari Pahari locality allegedly burned to death his wife Sudha Devi with the help of his relatives after the father of the deceased failed to give him a motorbike in dowry. Her father Maheshwar Ravidas lodged a complaint and Sikandar’s mother Sunaina Devi was arrested, Laheri SHO Sanjay Kumar said. He said raids were being conducted to arrest the other accused persons.
Meanwhile, one Padarath Paswan was shot at near his village Powari under the Rahui police station area on the eve of Dussehra. He worked as executive assistant at Warisaliganj in Nawada district. One of the eight accused was arrested.
Police also recovered the body of an unidentified youth near Kanchanpur village under the Chhabilapur police station area on Thursday.
Miscreants shot at one Ajay Yadav at Heganpura under the Rahui police station area on October 17 while one Arman was shot at in Biharsharif’s Chandpura locality the same morning. Both are admitted to Patna Medical Collage and Hospital.
