MUZAFFARPUR/BUXAR: A minor girl and a 40-year-old woman from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh were allegedly gang-raped in two separate incidents in Muzaffarpur and Buxar in the last 24 hours.
The minor girl, a Class IX student from scheduled caste community, was allegedly gang-raped by five men at a village under the Mithanpura police station area in Muzaffarpur. SHO of Mithanpura police station Vijay Kumar Rai said the incident took place in the wee hours of Monday.
The girl, who lived with one of his relatives, told police that the five men entered her rented house after breaking open the main door.
“They beat up my brother-in-law before outraging my modesty. The five also threatened me with dire consequences if I complained to anyone,” the girl told police.
Muzaffarpur SSP Manoj Kumar said the police were verifying the allegations. “A case has been registered against the five under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and IPC. Raids are on to arrest the accused,” the SSP added.
“The girl has claimed that she has been living with her brother-in-law. However, primary investigations suggest that the man is not her relative. He is in fact a history-sheeter. Two of the accused are also out on bail in a liquor smuggling case,” the SSP added. The accused were identified as Sheru Thakur, Chandan Thakur, Chhotu Thakur, Tikku Thakur and Dablu Thakur.
In another incident at Buxar, five men allegedly gang-raped a 40-year-old Ghazipur woman near a temple after sedating her husband on Sunday night. The incident took place near Chausa Brahmasthan under Muffasil police station area of the district. The woman had gone to the temple along with her husband to offer prayers so that she is blessed with a baby boy. The accused allegedly took the woman to a secluded place before taking turns to rape her.
“An FIR has been lodged in connection with the case at Mahila police station in Buxar and efforts are on to arrest the accused,” Buxar SDPO Satish Kumar said.
