Karkhana home in Secunderabad Cantt has 32 voters!

SECUNDERABAD: Door No. 5-05-002, DID Quarters, Karkhana. The house number is right. But what's shocking is 32 voters enrolled from the same house in Secunderabad Cantonment assembly constituency. The election authorities are yet to rectify the glaring anomaly but the opposition parties are crying foul over apathy of officials of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) election wing.
Congress leader M Krishank got wind of the error after final voter list came out.A few voters' names have been enrolled on same door No (5-05-002) though they reside in other areas in the Cantonment. "Without verifying the credentials of voters' details, the SCB officials finalised the voters' list," Krishank told TOI. "It is surprising that the ECI has not responded to our pleas and failed to rectify the names," he said.
In another goof-up, a glaring oversight was found with Secunderabad Cantonment MLA G Sayanna's family. The rolls had duplication of names of two daughters of the MLA who had won from Secunderabad Cantonment in the 2014 elections. The name of Gaini Namratha appeared twice in Secunderabad Cantonment and once in Musheerabad. In the Cantonment, her name appeared twice as 'Kum G Namratha' and 'Mrs Namaratha Gaini', once with father's name and second time with her husband Sharath Chandra's name. Another daughter Gaini Niveditha's name also appeared twice in Cantonment and Musheerabad constituencies respectively. The name of Gaini Lasya Nanditha Gaini, who is Kavadiguda corporator, was enrolled in Musheerabad constituency.
"We made an appeal to ECI on the errors. But authorities did not take cognizance of our pleas and declared the final voters' list," Krishank said. As per the EC rule, if a person having his/her name in two assembly constituencies, the person concerned must submit Form VI with a plea to delete his/her name from one constituency and refer which constituency he/she deserves to continue.
