PATNA: Two days after a dog was seen carrying an severed leg of a patient in the Buxar Sadar hospital, a pig was on Wednesday found running with a newborn’s body in its jaws at the Sadar hospital at Saharsa.
Hospital sources said a stray pig entered the hospital with a baby’s body lying in a compound adjacent to the hospital premises. People tried to stop the animal, but it fled into the forest along with the body.
Saharsa sadar hospital’s deputy superintendent Dr Anil Kumar told this reporter over the phone on Thursday the unclaimed body was of a two-day-old baby and it was lying outside the hospital premises.

“The pig with the body between its jaws was first seen outside the hospital. Vested interests drove the pig through the hospital premises just to malign the hospital and its security arrangements,” Dr Kumar claimed and added the hospital in its records did not have any mention of a baby dying in recent days.
The Saharsa DM, however, ordered an inquiry by SDO Shambhu Jha. While on a visit to the hospital, Jha defended the hospital management, but narrated a different story to the newsmen. He said the pig had dug the body out of a ditch near a school.
On Monday, a dog reportedly found its way to the operation theatre of Buxar sadar hospital and reportedly took away the severed leg of one Ramnath Mishra of Ara. Mishra was admitted to the hospital after he fell on the track while trying to board a running Sharamjeevi Express at Buxar junction. He later succumbed to his injuries.
State health secretary Sanjay Kumar had, however, later said the canine had picked up the leg from the accident spot.
