Villagers in Nalanda district attack cops

BIHARSHARIF: Residents of Gilani village under Sare police station area on Thursday evening attacked a police team with stones and fired several rounds in the air to prevent the arrest of a murder accused against whom Barh court in Patna district had issued an arrest warrant.
Sare police station house officer Santosh Kumar said he had led a police team to arrest the murder accused after receiving the court order.“As the police team reached near the house of the accused, dozens of villagers assembled there and started pelting stones in which at least three policemen sustained minor injuries. The miscreants also fired in the air. Taking advantage of the commotion, the accused managed to escape but police have arrested his father Jendu Gope from the spot,” said the SHO.
Biharsharif Sadar SDPO Imran Perwez said, “The miscreants fired one round in the air and pelted stones in which some policemen sustained injuries. An FIR is being lodged against the miscreants and they would be soon arrested.”
