HYDERABAD: Of the 70,000 voters, whose names were deleted from the list in Secunderabad Cantonment Board during summary revision of electoral rolls, 50,000 have reapplied for inclusion. The deletion of such a huge number had baffled politicians and activists. After rigorous campaigns were conducted, officials finally received reapplication from 50,000 delete voters.

Interestingly, the election officials received a number of applications through national voters services portal. The SCB has a total of 7,000 new applicants who would be casting their vote for the first time, officials informed. It is learnt that there would be 232 polling booths across the SCB with 1,300 voters assigned to each booth. The booth level voters list has been finalised.

It may be mentioned here that the SCB has a total voter base of 2.3 lakh from eight wards, enrolled in the electoral rolls. The SCB official have been holding household survey for four months now to verify voters list. Further, the officials said that the 50,000 voters who have claimed to be genuine voters submitted a copy of Aadhaar as identity proof.

Meanwhile, the SCB Congress party leaders allege that the officers have failed to find out the errors. M Krishank, Congress spokesperson said, “the SCB officials have turned a blind eye on identifications of double voter cards in different areas in the area. “Voters are confused as they don’t have proper information on voters lists as to where their name will feature in which polling booth. We are demanding that the voters list should be prepared without any conspiracy ,” he added.
