CM Kumaraswamy, Deve Gowda to campaign for Congress in Ballari

The Congress has deployed over 10 ministers and many senior leaders in Ballari, the only Lok Sabha seat the party is contesting.

BENGALURU: For the first time after the bypolls were announced, top JD(S) leaders, including former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, will campaign for the Congress candidate in Ballari. The JD(S) and Congress are facing the bypolls together, and Congress leaders are campaigning for JD(S) candidates in Shivamogga, Mandya and Ramanagara.

JD (S) supremo Deve Gowda will campaign for Congress candidate V S Ugrappa on Monday and the CM will do so in Ballari on Wednesday. According to a JD (S) leader, Gowda and senior Congress leaders will campaign together in Ballari and Shivamogga. 

In Shivamogga, the Congress is supporting JD(S) candidate Madhu Bangarappa, who is pitted against BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa’s son B Y Raghavendra. On Sunday, Gowda will campaign for Anitha Kumaraswamy, JD (S) candidate in Ramanagara.

Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy will camp in Shivamogga for the next three days, and he is scheduled to address eight rallies in the district. In Ballari, the CM will take part in campaigning with the Congress leaders.
