Amaravati: Temporary High Court to be ready by mid-December

The High Court will be temporarily housed in the Judicial Complex, expected to be ready by mid-December, being built in Justice City, he added.

VIJAYAWADA: A day after Supreme Court has directed the Centre to issue a notification on the bifurcation of High Court in Hyderabad, Delhi High Court Judge Suresh Kumar Kait, recalled that the design of the High Court was finalised when he was the judge of High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Suresh, who was a member of the committee constituted to identify a suitable place in the new State, adding that the finalised design was one among the three models presented to the committee by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA). 

“Taking into consideration the speed of execution of the projects, we expect the relocation of the High Court by December this year,” said Justice Kait, who participated in the workshop organised on Tuesday in New Delhi by the APCRDA on Justice City. 

In a presentation on Justice City, APCRDA Commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar, said the State government was building ‘Lawyer Chamber Project’ to provide housing for the judges and lawyers of the High Court coming up in Amaravati. The High Court will be temporarily housed in the Judicial Complex, expected to be ready by mid-December, being built in Justice City, he added.

“The project will be 500 metres away from the permanent High Court and will be ready in two years,” he said.
