Idukki man gets death penalty for raping and killing woman, daughter

IDUKKIL: The High Court on Tuesday confirmed the death sentence awarded by Thodupuzha second additional sessions judge T U Kuruvila on June 20, 2012, to an Idukki native for brutally raping and murdering a mother and her daughter at Peermade in 2007.  

The prime culprit, Rajendran of Puthuvalthadathil house, Churakkulam near Vandiperiyar in Idukki has been awarded death sentence for raping and murdering Molly, 55, of Vallomparambil, 57th mile near Peermade and her daughter Neenu, 22. 

According to public prosecutor E A Rahim, the incident happened on December 2, 2007. 
Rajendran along with Jomon, the second culprit, broke into the house where Molly and her daughter lived. 

After gagging Neenu with a cloth, Rajendran raped her. Jomon raped Molly in the meanwhile. They raped both of them till 5 am, and when they tried to resist, they were brutally attacked with a knife and iron pipe. 

In the absence of eyewitnesses, Rajendran was trapped with the help of circumstantial evidence.
