Bank looted in Jamui, CSP owner robbed of Rs 5.93 lakh in Madhubani
PATNA: Five unidentified armed criminals looted Rs 8 lakh from Bihar Grameen Bank’s Matia branch under Barhat police station in Jamui on Tuesday morning, while at around same time, two bike borne armed criminals looted Rs 5.93 lakh from State Bank of India’s customer service point (CSP) owner Chandramohan Prasad at Behta under Benipatti police station area of Madhubani district.
While none were injured in the Jamui bank loot, criminals shot at Prasad, his staff Dharmendra Kumar and a betel shop owner Gopal Kamat who rushed to the spot leaving his shop, to assist the duo who were resisting criminals in the loot.

Jamui SP J Jalaraddi said that the criminals after barging inside bank premises, took all customers and bank employees hostage on gunpoint and made them sit at a corner.
"They later took cash kept inside an almirah at branch and fled. The criminals had not covered their face. They even took away the hard drive of CCTV cameras inside bank leaving no footage of their movement," the SP said.
He said though there were business establishments outside branch but none told police that how criminals had reached there or path of retreat.
Meanwhile, Benipatti SDPO Pushkar Kumar said Prasad along with his staff was going to their CSP on bike after withdrawing Rs 5.93 lakh from SBI’s another branch at Barhat when the loot took place. They CSP and the branch are located nearby.
"The two criminals, wearing helmets, intercepted Prasad and his staff soon after they came out of the branch with money. The duo resisted the loot. Observing scuffle on road, betelshop owner also came in rescue of Prasad and his staff," SDPO said.

"However, all three were shot at after which criminals fled. The residents attacked criminals but they opened fired at least three more rounds in air to terrorise everyone,” he said adding one of the criminals was holding pistols in both hands.
The SDPO said two empty cartridges and three lives cartridge of different bores were recovered from spot.
